About me

Hi, I’m Gayatri

Gayatri Nalawade · Counselling Psychologist

If you’ve found your way here, perhaps a part of you is looking for something. Maybe a little more clarity, a little more understanding, or simply a space where you can be yourself without having to explain or hold everything together.

I’ve always been fascinated by the stories we carry within us: the beliefs we develop, the patterns we repeat, the ways we learn to protect ourselves, and the ways all of these shape how we see ourselves and connect with others.

As a psychologist and counsellor, I see therapy as a space to gently explore these parts of ourselves with curiosity rather than judgement.

How Gayatri works with you

My approach is warm, collaborative and deeply human. I don’t believe therapy is about changing who you are. I believe it’s about understanding yourself more deeply, making sense of what you’ve been through, and discovering new ways of moving forward.

In practice, that means you are never handed a script. Sessions with Gayatri move at your pace. Some days we will work with practical tools, some days we will simply slow down and make room for what you feel. Both matter.

Come as you are. We’ll start from there.

I draw on three main traditions. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy helps us notice how thoughts, feelings and actions feed each other. The humanistic approach keeps you, your values and your growth at the centre. A psychodynamic lens lets us look at how earlier experiences echo in the present. You can read more about each on the approaches page.

Who Gayatri supports

People come to me at many different moments. Some feel stuck in a loop they can’t name. Some are going through a change: a move, a breakup, a new job, a new country. Some are doing fine on the outside and quietly exhausted on the inside. Others are simply curious and want to understand themselves better.

Whether you’re struggling with your self-worth, feeling overwhelmed by your emotions, caught in familiar patterns, or simply wanting to know yourself better, you don’t have to figure it all out alone.

Why “Sit With Gayatri”?

The name came from a simple idea. Before anything else, therapy is about someone sitting with you. Not rushing to fix, not judging, just being present while you find your words.

The logo carries the same story: a quiet face turned inward, leaves growing beside it, all held inside an open arch. Listen, heal, grow. A doorway you can walk through whenever you are ready.

That is the feeling Gayatri wants every session to have: calm, unhurried and grounded, like sitting on the grass on a slow afternoon.

What I believe about therapy

  • You are the expert on your life. I bring psychological knowledge and a fresh perspective. You bring your experience. Change happens where the two meet.
  • Curiosity heals more than criticism. We look at even the hardest patterns with interest rather than blame. Every pattern once made sense.
  • Insight and action belong together. Understanding why matters, and so does trying something new on a Tuesday afternoon.
  • Pace is personal. There is no schedule you have to keep up with. Slow is still forward.
  • Safety comes first. Nothing is explored until it feels safe enough to explore.

What you can expect

A confidential, respectful space. Honest conversation. Practical tools when you want them and gentle curiosity when you need it. You will always know why we are doing something, and you can always say no.

Therapy also has limits worth naming. It is not an emergency service. If you are in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency number or find a crisis line through Find A Helpline. You can read more in the disclaimer.

If you would like to work with Gayatri, the easiest first step is to request a session. If you have a question first, write to me. I read every message personally.
